The state added jobs for the first time in months, according to the latest report, but the unemployment rate rose thanks to more people looking for work.
Massachusetts added 3,500 jobs last month, but the unemployment rate ticked up from 6.4 percent to 6.6 percent, the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development said today.
The unemployment rate rose 0.2 percentage points because more people started looking for work, increasing the size of the total work force.
