Taxes are among Washington's least-favorite four letter words. Legislators don't want to talk about raising them because constituents don't like paying them. About half of Americans think they're too high; just 1 percent "love" paying them. At the same time, it's only a tiny sliver of the population that blames taxes for their own financial situation taking a turn for the worse.
